  • Nuclear Sunset This is a series of paintings, edition of three, called 'Nuclear Sunset'. The paintings are a response to a possible future if North Korea's (or anyone else's) nuclear threats becomes a reality.

  • Wentworth Mural Commisioned mural for Freemantle Media Australia, Wentworth TV set.

This mural is for a new Australian tv series called 'Wentworth' which is about a womens prison and the inmates. So - I actually painted on a real tv set.... That's awesome!
Before I started, I got some reference images and was told a brief story; In the actual series, this mural is painted by one of the more creative female inmates. She had applied for an approval to paint this wall to make the walls look a bit more joyful. She wanted to cheer up the life inside the walls and the prison manager granted her application and gave her some space to paint.

It was really interesting to paint this wall, because what I painted is so far from what I would have painted and I felt like I actually had to 'act' like the character in the series to get the right feel to it.

  • Frank Magazine Frank Magazine.
    School Assignment 2009.

This is a fictional magazine for men mainly in the age between 25 - 35. I wanted to play on mens natural childishness, and considering that men in this agegroup grew up with comics, I used illustrations to create funny and somewhat childish moments.

This magazine was designet in 2009 during my time at the Norwegian School of Creative Studies (NKF) in Oslo.

  • Designs for Zinc FX Zinc FX is the company representing my work in Australia. Here's a compilation of mockups of some of the designs I offer through Zinc FX.
The following text is taken from Zinc FX's website :

"Art without limitations for commercial spaces is the platform on which URBAN ART by Zinc FX is based. This somewhat controversial style is now very suitable for restaurants by adding STREET credibility and localised subject matter to create an immediate connection with your clients.

Zinc FX is very proud to represent and profile the work of Kim A. Larsen a Norwegian Graphic designer, illustrator and visual artist, based in Melbourne who is usually known under his pseudonym (or artist name) SinnSykShit. Kim’s style is to design specific works and paint directly onto walls or any available surface. So we offer not only existing works but a design-for-you service, producing a snapshot of your business, your services and your location. The results are hand drawn and highly detailed, yet sprawling murals which are printed onto vinyl and then applied to the wall. This method is perfect for high traffic areas and public spaces.

    - Urban art is a style of art that relates to cities and city life often done by artists who live in or have a passion for city life. In that way urban art combines street art and graffiti and is often used to summarize all visual art forms arising in urban areas being inspired by urban architecture or the urban lifestyle.
    - Street art is developed in the streets and public spaces — though the term usually refers to unsanctioned art. The term can include traditional graffiti artwork, sculpture, stencil graffiti, sticker art, and street poster art guerrilla art, and street installations. Typically, the term street art or the more specific post-graffiti is used to distinguish contemporary public-space artwork from territorial graffiti, vandalism and corporate art. (source Wiki)"

  • Comfort Hotel XPRESS #1 Mural painted in the lobby at the brand new Comfort Hotel XPRESS in Oslo.

The brand new hotel in Oslo, Comfort Hotel XPRESS just opened (2011), and its concept is one of the coolest I have ever seen used by a hotel. They aim towards those who don't want to wear nice clothes in the lobby, and those who want to wear their Metalica T-Shirt and still fit in along with the staff. This hotel will be decorated with graffiti, street-art and other forms of art and murals, and the staff wears Converse shoes and band shirts at work as uniforms. I got in contact with the 24 year old hotel manager via Twitter (@sinnsykshit, @ComfortXPRESS) and hooked up a pretty sweat deal. I was allowed to paint whatever I wanted in their lobby. It was an offer to good to turn down, and this is the result.

There is a video of the whole process at the end.
        2011 Graffiti, Illustration, Painting
  • Comfort Hotel XPRESS #2 - Lobby STOP sign, in the stairways of the Hotel XPRESS, was painted because some guests had problems to find the way out to the main entrance and lobby, so they continued down in the basement. Something which could be fatal during an fire evacuation. Therefore I had to paint some nice signs, telling the guest where to get off the stairs.

    - The hotels touchscreen tv, Xpress Concierge, contains information about the hotel, events in the area and cool places to visit in Oslo. This touchscreen needed more attention, so I had to paint something around the tv.

    - The Tiger Records typography was painted on a pedestal in the lobby, where Tiger Records, a LP shop, showcase some of their LP's for sale.

  • The Rolls-Royce Project (PS: This project was for a private customer!)

A collector wanted his Rolls Royce Silvershadow '68 to be painted as a replica of John Lennon's infamous Rolls Royce Phantom. So I was asked to custom paint the car. The poster and booklet was ment to be used at exhibitions and such, featuring the car Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of the car when it's finished yet. But I'll upload them as soon as I got them ready.

I owe Jørgen Rodem, Stein Henriksen and JTMS9 a big thanks for all the help. Also, thanks heaps to Kongsberg Billakk verksted for all the paint and Bjørn Thomas Høen for trusting me enough to actually let me paint his Rolls Royce. And I reckon I should say thanks to Jørgen's parents as well, for letting us use their garage as a painting workshop for nearly two months.

  • ERASE Exhibition ERASE was an installation artwork made by students at Deakin University in 2010, as a part of the Kaleidoskope arts season.

In "ERASE" the audience became the somnambulist invited to negotiate a world where anything can happen. They became part of a world where the familiar becomes unknown and the the unknown resolves into the ordinary.

Equipped with UV torches, the audience was sent into the total dark exhibition space, and was challenged to experience the room using the UV light. Glow in the dark motifs had to be charged with the uv light to glow and shine, while fluorescent motifs was only visible when pointed at directly with the UV torches. One of the walls was completely covered in glow in the dark paint, allowing the audience to decorate the wall using the torch as a brush. The audience could draw with the trorch and make silhouettes, and in that way interact with the room on a personal level.

The ERASE exhibition was made by:

The concept was started by the founder of the Moonwalker Danceschool, Jonathan Bjørland, and was started to provide the youth a place to be and something else to do other than just hanging around in the streets making trouble.
The consert is being held in the south/east of oslo, wich is a area with a lot of youth criminality with gang affiliation.

  • SinnSykShit business card These business cards was designed by and for SinnSykShit. When assembled correctly, the cards fits together to form a whole motif. They are inspired from old football cards (etc.) you had as a kid when you wanted to collect all the different cards.

The cards are all hand cut by the designer him self, which is a symbol of his dedication and passion for his work. This way the designer makes them more personal and the idea is based upon the fact that you actually hand out business cards all the time wherever you are. Being handcut, the SinnSykShit business cards can therefore be considered a small gift from the designer where he has actually used his time to hand cut and personalized each and one of them for the reciever!

The illustration inside also represents the illustration style of the designer. Each of the three different cards has been dedicated to the three most recognizable styles derived from SinnSykShit.

There only exists a total of 300 of these business cards.

  • TivoliAudio 10th Anniversary This was my contribution for Tivoli Audio's 10th anniversary billboard contest hosted by Designboom. The winner would get his/her bilboard featured on Times Square in December month 2010. Unfortunately I didn't won, but I made it to the top 30 and was ranked among the top 3 out of
the particpants from my country. (Norway)

Henry Kloss is an important person for TivoliRadio, and I decided to design a clean and stylish billboard who shows "the Henry Kloss evolution", which features the radios from model one till model 10. Model one is portrayed as a small radio while model ten is the biggest. This has nothing to do with their real sizes, it's a way to illustrate the evolution. I used a real photo behind the illustration of model 10, this is to show the new model as it is, and to separate it from previous models. The white, simple and clean design really stands out in a positive way, as a contrast to the chaos on Times Square, and there's no doubt it's a TivoliAudio billboard. The billboard are also a tribute to Henry Kloss.

  • 22 July Memory Poster. This poster was made in relation with the trial of a monster, and the terrible terror attacks he conducted in Oslo and Utøya in Norway the 22nd July 2011. I will forever be proud of the way Norway reacted to this incident, and my warmest thoughts goes out to the victims and relatives.

"To me, 22nd July is only an important memory of flowers and care. Rest In Peace! "

But, when this is said, I'm not happy with some of the decisions that's been made prior to and during the trial. The poster can be viewed as a reaction to the censoring of the trial in the Norwegian media. The truth is rarely pretty, but it must not be hidden!

The video is made by AvaStoryteller!

  • Crime Cities After several recent criminal events in Oslo such as rape, murder, robberies and violence, I designed this poster. It's a statement to the society, that if nothing happens soon, Oslo is good on it's way (put on the edge) to be as criminal as the infamous Gotham city from the Batman comics.     2011 Graphic Design, Illustration, Design
